Maxthon Cloud Browser 1.0.5.3 released, install on Linux Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE and CentOS

Maxthon Cloud Browser is a free web browser software built around the open source Chromium application, on which the popular Google Chrome web browser is based. In fact, it looks and acts almost the same as the latter.

What's New in This Release:
  • We improved our sync features. Now you can turn off the sync of Favorites, Quick Access, Magic Fill and Could Tab individually, if you don't want to sync some data because it is personal. You can access the sync setting dialog from the cloud icon in main menu.
  • We improved importing. Click "import user data" in main menu or the "import bookmarks and settings" button at the top of settings page, and then you can select Chrome and import your extensions and history. Please note that Maxthon will download the extension from Chrome Web Store after importing.

Features at a glance

Key features include a customizable speed dial page, built-in mouse gestures, improved application menu with quick access to favorites, history, downloads and settings, as well as other unique improvements.

The application comes with a built-in sync functionality, allowing users to keep all of their web history, passwords, bookmarks, opened tabs, and preferences in the cloud, simply by creating a free Maxthon Passport account.

It doesn’t feature a main menu, allowing users to quickly access their bookmarks, web history, downloads, settings, and many other useful functions from a single toolbar button. Furthermore, it includes a task manager and detailed statistics for nerds.

Another interesting feature is the ability to block unwanted ads, as the application automatically installs the AdBlock extension from the get go. It is also fully compatible with the Google Chrome web store, from where users can installed thousands of extensions.

Designed for Chinese-speaking users

Maxthon is a foreign company, so the first thing you will see when you open the program for the first time is its official website, which is available only on Chinese. In addition, the speed dial page is full of predefined Chinese websites that no one really cares about (except for Chinese users, of course).

Being a closed-source project, the application is distributed only as binary files for Debian/Ubuntu-based operating systems, as well as Red Hat/Fedora-based ones. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
