PhotoQt 1.2 released, Install on Linux Mint and Ubuntu via PPA

PhotoQt is a totally free, multiplatform and open source desktop application designed from the offset to act as a highly configurable, flexible and extremely fast/responsive image viewer software that boasts a modern and uncluttered graphical user interface implemented in Qt5.

What's New in This Release:
  • GraphicsMagick: More thorough testing and fixing
  • Intelligent detection of supported fileformats on first start
  • Colour filetype tiles of unsupported formats orange (qt formats only)
  • Added better SVG support
  • Added XCF support (depending on XCFtools)
  • Added PSB/PSD support (depending on libqpsd)
  • Smart preloading of folder, better support for large directories (15,000+ files)
  • Add sorting criteria for files (name, natural name, filesize, date)

Key features include support of a wide variety of image file formats supported by the GraphicsMagick software, support for viewing EXIF information of images, slideshow functionality, the ability to set a photo as desktop background (wallpaper), image thumbnail cache, as well as support for flipping, rotating and zooming photos with no permanent changes.

In addition, users will be able to scale images permanently, to rename, copy, move or delete image files from their file system, or to navigate between images using the mouse and keyboard peripheral devices. It integrates with the system tray area of your desktop environment, supports various command-line options, it can be configured to look and act the way you want it to, and it’s translated in several languages.

To install PhotoQt 1.2 on Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS), Ubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.04, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, Linux Lite 2.2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems, open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:samrog131/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install photoqt
The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations
